It is recommended that an initial assessment be completed if you are uncertain about the individual’s specific needs or if it has been more than 12 months since their last assessment. An assessment usually takes 90 minutes and will provide in depth information of the individuals needs to help you and the therapist gain a greater understanding of their needs to establish relevant goals. Further, allowing the therapist to develop an individualised therapy plan and any necessary recommendations.
What is Telehealth?
Telehealth sessions are therapy sessions conducted through online video calls typically using the application called ZOOM.
It is useful for clients in remote areas, limited mobility, on holidays or those wanting a convenient way to have therapy without the need to physically see their therapist.
What age do children usually start talking?
It is important to keep in mind that every child develops differently. Some children may begin speaking earlier or later than others. Typically, children begin speaking around the time they turn one year old, initially beginning with babbling and playing with different sounds. As they reach 12 months, it is common for them to begin articulating simple words such as “mama” and dada”. Between the age of 18 and 24 months, their vocabulary grows more, allowing them to form simple sentences.
